Last friday, g pantai Depok sbb semua lapar +kempunan+ mengidam nk makan fresh seafoodsss..

nampak x muke confused+ tak brape reti nk pilih ikan, udang, sotong yg fresh.. hmmmm...

how to choose fresh Fish?

  • Look for bright, clear eyes. The eyes are the window to a truly fresh fish, for they fade quickly into gray dullness. Dull-eyed fish may be safe to eat, but they are past their prime.

  • Next look at the fish. Does it shine? Does it look metallic and clean? Or has it dulled or has discolored patches on it? If so, it is marginal.

  • Smell it. A fresh fish should smell like clean water, or a touch briny or even like cucumbers. Under no circumstances should you buy a nasty smelling fish. Cooking won't improve it.

  • Look at the gills. They should be a rich red. If the fish is old, they will turn the color of faded brick.


how to choose fresh Prawn?

Fresh prawns, whether raw or cooked, should smell fresh and clean, not fishy, and should look moist. Avoid any that look dry or that have broken or cracked shells.

In general, choose fresh prawns with their entire shells still nicely attached together, like those in the pictures above. Those that are loose are not as fresh. The prawns should feel firm too. If the shells cling to the meat when cooked, they are not fresh.


how to choose fresh Squid?

Never buy unfrozen squid unless it is very fresh. Its eyes should be bright and shiny. When buying, look for fresh whole squid with clear and smooth skin. The squid should smell absolutely fresh.
